Blue Logistics Group starts the new year as the old one ended
Blue Logistics Group expands its Nordic presence with the acquisition of a majority stake in Haparanda Fjärrtransporter, a well-established transport and logistics company based in the northernmost part of Sweden.
The company has, for many years, played a role in traffic between Sweden and Finland, providing both national and international road transport, terminal, and warehousing solutions. Traffic towards Northern Norway also constitutes a stable and growing business area for Haparanda Fjärrtransporter and is an important part of the company’s regional significance. With its strategic location at the border between Sweden and Finland, the company has developed a special understanding of customers’ needs in the region.
The inclusion of this new family member in Blue Logistics Group is therefore naturally welcomed, as the activity supports the ambition to create an even stronger logistics network across the Nordics.
Mikkel Fruergaard, Group CEO of Blue Logistics Group, elaborates on the decision:
“We have long had our eye on Haparanda Fjärrtransporter and the position the company has built in the region. There is strong local engagement and a deep understanding of customer needs, which we see as an important foundation for our continued development. Our strategy is based on being close to the market and close to the customers, and here Haparanda Fjärrtransporter fits perfectly. The acquisition gives us a strategic expansion to the north and contributes to a more cohesive network for our customers across the entire Nordics.”
He adds that the acquisition also strengthens Blue Logistics Group’s ability to offer more integrated solutions across the region, where Haparanda Fjärrtransporter’s location and experience become a natural supplement.
Group COO Nicklas Eggert highlights the operational synergy:
“From the start, there was a clear mutual understanding between our organizations. Haparanda Fjärrtransporter works closely with customers, has a strong team spirit, and delivers flexible solutions – exactly the qualities we build our own operations on. When we combine their local knowledge with our platform, technology, and network, we get a stronger overall setup. We strongly believe that this integration will both strengthen our operations and create tangible benefits for customers in the form of more options and better capacity.”
Nicklas Eggert also emphasizes that the integration is being carried out in close cooperation with Haparanda Fjärrtransporter’s employees, and that their local knowledge and relationships will be a crucial piece in the ongoing regional puzzle.
At Haparanda Fjärrtransporter, there are high expectations for the collaboration and the new opportunities that inclusion in the family brings.
“Becoming part of Blue Logistics Group feels like a natural step for us,” says Patrik Bucht, owner of Haparanda Fjärrtransporter. “Our traffic towards Northern Norway is stable and an important development area, and the ambition is to strengthen our role as the local hub for transport to and from the Arctic region – both domestically and internationally. With Blue Logistics Group behind us, we have the opportunity to develop in a way that strengthens the entire region, while maintaining the identity and local knowledge that have been the foundation of our success. I look forward to the opportunities we can create together.”
The integration of Haparanda Fjärrtransporter is now underway, and daily operations will continue unchanged. “Blue Logistics Group continues its journey on its two legs, which are our DNA – Partnership and Freedom – and this naturally also applies to Haparanda and the new colleagues,” concludes Karsten Mathiesen – one of the two founders of Blue Logistics.
Both customers and employees can expect a stable transition, with a focus on maintaining what works while building new opportunities on top. For Blue Logistics Group, the goal is to create a strengthened Nordic structure with greater flexibility, better capacity utilization, and more choices for customers operating across the region’s borders.
